Giving an Appreciation for Life : What we usually overlook

Almost everyone right now are living a very fast paced lifestyle. With the dawn of computers and technology everything becomes simplified with one click of a button. When i was younger i used to remember having a telephone in my grandparents house where you have to wind up the dial and wait until it coils back in every number before you can make a call, or when people used to have those really chunky cellphones that would qualify as house phone nowadays. I remember how everything has evolved into a more complex gadget that makes every single living day more convenient. Who would have thought before that someone will be able to comeout with cellphone with built in tv, internet or radio . Whoever thought back before that you could fit a thousand songs in a small gadget that we can bring along every where we go .

Just recently while i was taking one of my walks to get breakfast i was reading this magazine while waiting for my order to be sent to my table . I was reading on this article about hungry people and people who dont have clean water to drink . I couldnt believe what i was reading on how some people's struggle in certain places in the world just to get their basic neccesities. It just didnt occur to me that at this age where everything can be given or taken with just a click of a button that somewhere in the other side of the world some people would still walk miles just in order to get decent clean water to drink . That seemed so wrong for me.

I know a lot of times in my head i complain about how i dont have these and that at the moment , disregarding the fact that we are very lucky compared to other people in the world. The fact that we are willing to spend money on stuff like getting a caramel macchiato for almost $5 sometimes daily on our way to work or wherever can actually help some families in the world. According to the site for world Hunger relief, A dollar can feed 4 children, and $20 is a 20 year supply of clean water for a single person . So think of it, with that $5 a day you spend in buying your Starbucks Grande Sized Caramel Macchiato, you can feed 20 children a day and consider the price for 4 of that drink can give someone a 20 year supply of clean water.

Reading and knowing about this gave me a better appreciation of where i am right now , it makes me apreciate how blessed i am and how you guys are too compared to these families and people . Im not a saint but dont you think its a good idea if a lot of people would care more and maybe help these people . Here as some sites that i stumbled upon that handles these kind of charities . If you care join the movement, I know i will.
